One killed, 13 injured in shooting at Tennessee grocery store
At least 13 people were shot and one person was killed in a shooting at a grocery store in Tennessee on Thursday, according to police.
The shooter died from what authorities suspect was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Collierville Police Chief Dale Lane said at a press conference.
The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time at the Kroger in Collierville, a suburb of Memphis. Multiple people were injured inside the store and police found store employees hiding in freezers and locked offices, Lane said.
He described the scene as “horrific.”
“I’ve been involved in this for 34 years, and I’ve never seen anything like it,” Lane said.
Witnesses reported hearing at least a dozen shots, according to WREG, a local CBS-affiliate.
