‘Shark Tank’ investor Barbara Corcoran apologizes for comments about Whoopi Goldberg on ‘The View’
Barbara Corcoran, who is a judge and investor on the show “Shark Tank,” on Thursday apologized to Whoopi Goldberg after she came under fire for comments she made during an appearance on “The View” that critics blasted as fat-shaming.
Corcoran made the apology in a video posted to Twitter with the caption “Love ya Whoopi.”

“I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I realize now wasn’t funny,” Corcoran said in the video. “For anyone who I may have offended unintentionally, I just wanted to say I really am very sorry.”
Earlier on Thursday, Corcoran made an appearance on “The View” with fellow “Shark Tank” judges Mark Cuban and Daymond John. The group went on the show to discuss Emma Grede, who co-founded the Good American denim brand with Khloe Kardashian, joining “Shark Tank” as the first Black female guest judge.
As her talk show co-hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin discussed the size-inclusive denim line, Goldberg joked that she was unsure if the jeans would “fit this COVID [butt].”
While Navarro and Hostin assured Goldberg that the jeans would fit, Corcoran took aim at the actor, attempting to make a joke.
“When you get finished with those jeans and decide you don’t like them, give them to me — I’m going to make two pairs,” she said at the time.
Goldberg did not appear to find the joke funny, and social media users immediately pointed out that the comment was “rude.”
Whoopi is owed an apology! That comment was uncalled for! So rude. SMH.

Goldberg reportedly suffered health issues this year, which social media users said was another reason that Corcoran’s comments were inappropriate. In June, “The View” host left the show for a week while she was dealing with sciatica.
In 2019, she took a break from the show while she was in the hospital, suffering with pneumonia, according to USA Today.
