Police arrest three after man shot near site of memorial for slain rapper Young Dolph

Three men have been arrested in Memphis, Tenn., after a man was shot near the site of a memorial for rapper Young Dolph, who was gunned down at a local bakery on Wednesday afternoon.

The Memphis Police Department tweeted on Friday morning that they arrested Terrance Jones, 23, Jailon Nelvis, 19, and Tavis McQueen, 22, in connection with the Thursday night shooting, which they said appeared unrelated to Young Dolph’s slaying.

The Memphis Police Department responded to the scene around 5 p.m. Thursday evening. A man was reportedly shot outside Makeda’s Butter Cookies, where 36-year-old Young Dolph, legally known as Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., was shot the day before. A memorial had been set up outside the bakery.

The wounded man from Thursday’s shooting is in noncritical condition, according to Memphis police.

Officers detained two of the suspects at the scene and the third suspect after a pursuit.

Memphis police have released photos of the two suspects they believe killed Young Dolph.

“This shooting is another example of the senseless gun violence we are experiencing locally and nationwide. Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who are affected by this horrific act of violence,” Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis said Wednesday, according to CNN.
