Cablevision overwhelmingly favors Democrats

Cablevision’s top issue — retransmission consent — picked up more support from Democrats than Republicans.
Senate communications subcommittee Chairman John Kerry (Mass.) authored legislation that would have strengthened cable’s hand in fee disputes with broadcasters. He also held a hearing on the issue in November.
With Republicans not expressing an appetite to amend the rules, any effort could fall on the Federal Communications Commission, which has an open proceeding about the issue.
Broadcasting & Cable reports that the FCC will announce a rulemaking proceeding to alter the regulations at a Media Institute luncheon on Wednesday.
