Clinton: Vote against uncompromising lawmakers

Hillary Clinton on Thursday night advised people to vote against lawmakers who refuse to compromise. 

While giving a speech on sustainability in Pennsylvania, Clinton said Washington has been taken over by a select few who refuse to compromise.

{mosads}“I think whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, it’s important not to vote for people who proudly say they will never compromise,” she said, according to CNN. 

She described this group as a “small minority.”

Clinton said voters do not have to necessarily choose Democrats — she ticked off a list of past Republicans, including Ronald Reagan, who worked with the opposite party. 

“I’m just asking you to vote for the kind of Republicans that we used to have more of in our two-party system who would come together,” she said. 

The potential presidential candidate in 2016 said voters have to do a better job outlining their expectations to lawmakers. 

Clinton has been highly critical of Congress in the wake of the government shutdown last month. 

She previously described the United States as careening from crisis to crisis because of lawmakers who govern by ideology. 

“We’ve seen unfortunately what happens in our public debate when they occur in what I do call an evidence-free zone, where people make claims and arguments that have no basis in evidence but which are ideologically motivated, when politicians choose scorched earth over common ground, families have felt the consequences,” she said at a gathering in Washington a week after the government shutdown.
