Trump opts out of gov race for ‘bigger plans’

Billionaire Donald Trump won’t run for governor of New York, he announced in a series of tweets on Friday — but he hinted at something “bigger” planned for his future.

{mosads}“I have clearly stated that if the New York State Republican Party is able to unify, I would run for Governor and win. They can’t unify — SAD!” he tweeted Friday afternoon.

“The top leadership of the New York State Republican Party is totally dysfunctional. They haven’t won a major election in many years,” he added in a subsequent tweet.

The real-estate mogul and former reality television star had stoked speculation over his plans for months, as he has done multiple times before when hinting at, and opting out of, presidential and gubernatorial runs.

Few expected Trump to pull the trigger. But he has also kept the door open to a potential presidential run in 2016, and Trump’s final tweet on his decision seemed to indicate that could still be in the cards.

“While I won’t be running for Governor of New York State, a race I would have won, I have much bigger plans in mind — stay tuned, will happen!” he said.
