Perdue declines to answer whether he’s outsourced jobs

Georgia Republican Senate nominee David Perdue declined to say whether he has outsourced jobs when asked by a reporter Monday, an NBC News video shows.

{mosads}The video shows NBC reporter Kristen Welker approaching Perdue as he walks through an airplane hangar, and asking him twice, “Have you ever outsourced jobs?”

“What this is is another distraction to the people of Georgia away from the real critical issues, and that is that the failed policies of this administration are not producing jobs here at home,” Perdue replied.

In a debate on Sunday, Perdue answered simply “No,” when asked if he had outsourced jobs in his career.

But last week Perdue, a former Dollar General CEO, told NBC News, “A lot of people are critical about this outsourcing idea, but the issue is, at Dollar General, for example, we created almost 20,000 jobs in a very short period of time, and we outsourced all of the products and services we sold in the stores.”

In early October, a 2005 deposition came to light where Perdue said he “spent most of my career” outsourcing.

Democrat Michelle Nunn has been hammering Perdue on the issue, and her campaign emailed a link to the NBC video to reporters on Monday night.
