California governor gets record fourth term
California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) cruised to an unprecedented fourth term as governor Tuesday.
Multiple outlets called the election immediately for the incumbent, who wasn’t threatened at any point by Republican Neel Kashkari, a first-time candidate.
{mosads}Brown’s popularity has swelled during his recent term as he worked to get the state’s once-troubled budget under control and give local government more control over their schools and prisons.
Brown’s campaign also lambasted Kashkari’s Wall Street ties. Kashkari is a former Goldman Sachs banker and U.S. Treasury official.
At 76 years of age, Brown is the country’s oldest sitting governor.
