Dingell admitted to hospital

Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), the longest-serving member of Congress, was admitted to a Washington hospital Friday for observation, according to his spokesman.

Dingell, 88, had missed a tribute to his tenure earlier this week when he fell and bruised his hip.

He has served in Congress for 59 years, longer than any other member in history.

He will be replaced by his wife, Debbie Dingell, in January.
