Hillary Clinton to speak at EMILY’s List gala
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will speak March 3 at an event hosted by the women’s group EMILY’s List, which is supporting her potential run for the White House in 2016, according to multiple reports Tuesday.
Clinton will receive an award at the 30th anniversary gala for the group, which raises money for female candidates, CNN reported. She will also deliver a keynote speech at the event.
EMILY’s List has been pushing Clinton toward a White House campaign in 2016 and has hosted panels to rally support around electing a female president.
With speculation about her plans running rampant, Clinton is keeping a relatively low profile while booking speaking engagements. She will be interviewed by technology journalist Kara Swisher at a conference in late February.
If Clinton decides to run, it is likely she would no longer accept payment for speaking to groups, though she could maintain her scheduled engagements and refuse payment.
There is reportedly disagreement within the Clinton camp about how early to launch a run. Some advisers are in favor of her waiting until the summer to officially begin a campaign, Politico reported last week.
