Cruz, Walker, Santorum among Iowa Faith & Freedom speakers
Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker will be among the possible 2016 Republican presidential candidates speaking to a prominent group of conservatives in Iowa this spring.
Walker and Cruz will speak at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition’s spring kickoff event on April 25, the group announced in a Monday statement.
{mosads}They will be joined at the event by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
All are openly considering running for president in 2016. Some also attended Rep. Steve King’s (R-Iowa) Freedom Summit earlier this year, which draws a crowd of staunchly conservative activists.
Though former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is viewed as a a formidable contender for the centrist mantel, others have vowed to play to the conservative right.
If he runs, Cruz will reportedly try to boost turnout among the party base rather than change his message to appeal to moderate voters. Walker also recently hired two consultants with deep ties to the conservative movement.
