Santorum heading to New Hampshire

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), who is mulling a 2016 presidential bid, is heading to the early voting state of New Hampshire next month.

Santorum will address the conservative, Granite State-focused Cornerstone group for its annual dinner May 12 in Manchester, the group announced Wednesday.

{mosads}The dinner saw attention four years ago, when a speech from then-Gov. Rick Perry (R-Texas), who is also considering a 2016 bid, went viral, with late night comedians saying he appeared to be intoxicated.

The May visit will be Santorum’s first to New Hampshire in over a year.

He has recently made trips to the other early voting states of Iowa and South Carolina but was not among the nearly dozen declared and likely Republican presidential candidates who spoke in New Hampshire last weekend at the Republican Leadership Summit.

That event drew the likes of Sens. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Ted Cruz (Texas) and Rand Paul (Ky.), who have all declared their 2016 bids, as well as likely candidates Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

Santorum, who is considering another White House bid, finished fourth in the New Hampshire primary in 2012 and eventually was runner-up to Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination.
