Clinton turns to small-business push
Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton will begin speaking in early primary states next week on policies benefitting small businesses, an apparent attempt to shed the image among her critics that she is too close to Wall Street.
{mosads}Clinton will speak on the issue in Iowa and New Hampshire, a senior campaign official told Bloomberg, who added that the presumed Democratic front-runner for 2016 will outline ideas for people to take more risk on Main Street.
Bloomberg reports that cutting red tape for small businesses, simplifying taxes and expanding access to capital are among the ideas Clinton will suggest, emphasizing that small business would be a continued campaign focus.
Her move comes a week after intense debate in Washington over giving the president the authority to fast-track trade bills currently being negotiated by the Obama administration, which liberals say cost Americans jobs.
Clinton has not taken a position on one of the major deals, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, despite supporting the proposal during her tenure as secretary of State under President Obama.
