Fiorina: Rubio would be ‘great veep’

GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said Thursday she considers Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) an excellent choice for vice president in 2016.

“I think he is a politician with a great future,” she said of Rubio on Fox News’ “Hannity” that evening.

{mosads}“I think he would make a great veep,” Fiorina told host Sean Hannity.

She was also dismissive of some of her other rivals for the GOP’s presidential nomination next election cycle.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), she argued, strays too far from Republican values on foreign policy to represent the party in 2016.

“I think he’s outside the mainstream of this party,” she said of Paul.

“I think we are a nation that must always face outward into the world,” she said.

“When we are not leading – which does not mean rushing off to war – the world is a far more dangerous and tragic place.”

Fiorina then praised former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) but charged that voters are wary of sending a third Bush family member to the Oval Office.

“Jeb Bush is a very good man,” Fiorina said. “I think it’s difficult for a lot of people to think about a Bush III.”

Fiorina also criticized President Obama’s two terms in office.

“Honestly, I think his ideology is so foreign to what I think this country is about,” she said.

“I think he has no experience in what leadership really is,” Fiorina added. “I think now we need someone in the Oval Office who understands what leading really means.”

Fiorina additionally challenged Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s qualifications for the White House.

“I think she’s a hard-working, intelligent woman who has dedicated her life to public service,” Fiorina said of Clinton.

“I think her ambition to be president far outweighs her ability to be an effective leader,” she added.

The ex-technology executive then waved off claims she lacks the political background necessary to be president.

“Everything about me is different,” she said when asked what separates her from the rest of the 2016 field.

“I’m not a professional politician, so I can challenge the status quo in Washington,” she added.

Fiorina formally launched her 2016 campaign on May 4 in an online video.

She has thus far highlighted her business accomplishments and outside perspective on government.
