Liberal groups: Walker a ‘puppet’ for the Kochs

A pair of progressive outside groups are targeting Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker ahead of the formal launch of his presidential campaign, suggesting the Republican is a “puppet” for the Koch brothers.

The Agenda Project Action Fund and American Family Voices launched an ad against Walker on Monday, in what the groups are calling the first step in a larger campaign that will focus on the Republican’s ties Charles and David Koch, as well as “paint Walker as a bought and paid for puppet of the GOP mega-donors.”

{mosads}The Agenda Project Action Fund said that the 30-second ad will air in Iowa, considered a must-win state for Walker, and Washington, D.C. The group, which is known for making controversial ads targeting Republicans, also released an “uncensored web version.”

The ad, entitled “Puppet for President,” features headlines from PR Watch, Bloomberg and The New York Post that tie Walker to the Kochs. It also includes a puppet, which is supposed to represent in the Republican governor, waving and holding a wad of money in the background.

The groups also launched a website with a message from “the puppet.”

“As a proud puppet, I can assure you that your values and beliefs will be words that I will utter over the course of this campaign, then promptly forget about once I’m in office,” the message says. ” Imagine the historic victory it would be to put me — an actual, honest-to-God puppet — in the Oval Office? To be the Commander-in-Chief of our military! Set domestic policy! End the minimum wage! Cut taxes for the millionaires and billionaires! It’s going to be great.”

It adds “thanks so much to David and Charles Koch for all of your support!”

The groups’ ad comes as Walker is expected to formally launch his presidential bid in Wisconsin, though he released a video earlier Monday officially throwing his hat into the crowded Republican presidential field.

Agenda Project President Erica Payne said in a statement that “Americans are fed up with the influence of money has on our political leaders and they will vote accordingly.”

While, AFV President Mike Lux aded that “Walker’s record shows that he is the ultimate puppet for the priorities of the Koch brothers.”
