Trump predicts Iran will be ‘so rich and so powerful’
GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the landmark deal over Iran’s nuclear program vastly increases Tehran’s power and wealth.
{mosads}The New York business mogul said Tuesday’s historic agreement increases the threat Iran presents to the rest of the globe.
“They are going to be so rich and so powerful,” Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“We’re giving them so much,” he told hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
“Their sphere of influence is going to be spread to lots of bad areas and lots of bad people,” Trump added. “Ultimately, they’re going to have nukes all over the place.”
Trump argued that President Obama’s desire for a deal outweighed America’s national security interests.
The final pact, he added, is slanted toward Iranian leadership.
“I love the idea of a deal, but it was not a well-negotiated deal,” Trump said. “We were dealing from desperation.
“The good points are not very strong, that I can tell you,” he added.
Trump additionally said the deal’s goal of preventing an Iranian nuclear arsenal is not possible under its current language.
“By the end of the term, they’re going to be able to make nukes easily,” he said of Iran.
“I hate to inherit the deal,” Trump added of what happens with the deal should he become president in 2016. “I could have made such a better deal.”
Secretary of State John Kerry announced the accord aimed at restricting Iran’s nuclear arms research on Tuesday from Vienna.
It would place limits on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief.
Tehran has said it is accepting limits on its centrifuge and uranium stockpiles as part of the deal. It has also said it will allow some inspections of its nuclear energy programs.
The White House has said the deal limits Iran’s nuclear breakout time to one year, preventing it from producing the nuclear materials necessary for a bomb for at least that amount of time.
