O’Malley touts Clinton email praising him
Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s campaign on Tuesday touted a newly released email from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praising her current Democratic rival.
“I saw this email yesterday—something Secretary Clinton sent Senator Mikulski back in 2010—and was flattered,” O’Malley wrote in an email to supporters titled “About Secretary Clinton’s emails…”
O’Malley’s campaign included a snapshot of an email Clinton wrote after Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) last announced a reelection bid.
{mosads}”How’s our friend, Martin, doing? I know he has a rematch when he should be reelected by acclamation for steering the ship of state so well. Pls give him my best wishes,” Clinton wrote.
The email was one of 7,000 pages of exchanges from Clinton’s private email server that she used as secretary of State that were released by the department late Monday.
“Here’s the thing: I didn’t win in Maryland by acclamation,” O’Malley responded in his email to supporters Tuesday, touting his efforts as governor in the state.
“We made progress where it counts, and I’m happy to see Secretary Clinton thought so, too.”
O’Malley’s fundraising email comes as his campaign pressures the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to hold more primary debates.
The DNC has agreed to hold six debates, but O’Malley has called it a “rigged” process to support front-runner Clinton.
