Pennsylvania Dem would ‘absolutely’ back Biden bid
Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) says he’d back Vice President Biden if he seeks the 2016 Democratic nomination.
“Absolutely,” Brady said on “The Chris Stigall Show” on 1210 WPHT in Philadelphia when asked about endorsing Biden Monday.
“I do like Hillary Clinton, but Joe’s my friend, my personal friend,” he said.
“He’s a great, great person,” Brady added. “I just want him to do what’s best for him and his family. He’s been a personal friend for many, many years.”
{mosads}Joe Biden is wrestling with whether he is emotionally ready for a third Oval Office bid, following the recent death of his son Beau Biden.
Beau Biden reportedly urged his father to run for the White House before dying from brain cancer last May.
The vice president has met with multiple Democratic donors and lawmakers as front-runner Hillary Clinton slips in the polls, but has yet to declare his intentions.
Polls show Biden ranking third out of seven candidates for the Democratic nomination across multiple polls.
The latest RealClearPolitics average of national polls shows Biden with 20 percent support.
CNN announced on Monday that Biden is automatically eligible for the first televised Democratic presidential debate on Oct. 13 should he launch a bid beforehand.
