Poll: Trump has massive Mass. lead

Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump is lapping the field in Massachusetts, according to a WBUR poll released on Friday.

{mosads}Trump leads in the state with 40 percent support among GOP voters, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, with 19 percent support each.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) places fourth, with 10 percent support, followed by retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, with 5 percent.

Massachusetts is among the largest states holding its vote on Super Tuesday on March 1.

Trump also has the highest favorability rating in the state among the GOP primary candidates, with 56 percent of respondents saying they have a positive impression of the billionaire businessman.

An Emerson College poll of the Bay State on Sunday found Trump leading with 50 percent support, compared to Rubio’s 16 percent support and Kasich’s 13 percent support.

The WBUR poll surveyed 386 likely Republican primary voters from Feb. 21 to 23 and has a margin of error of 4.9 percent.
