Egyptian student facing deportation after threatening Trump

Immigration officials are trying to deport an Egyptian student after he posted on Facebook he was willing to kill Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

Emadeldin Elsayed, a 23-year-old student at flight school in the Los Angeles area, was interviewed by the Secret Service in February after he wrote in a social media post he was willing to serve a life sentence for killing the real estate mogul and that the world would thank him for it.

{mosads}”It’s just a stupid post. You can find thousands of these every hour on Facebook and the media,” Elsayed said in a phone interview with The Associated Press from jail. “I don’t know why would they think I am a threat to the national security of the United States just because of a stupid post.”

He said he wrote the post because he was outraged by Trump’s comments about Muslims but said he immediately regretted it.

Elsayed has not been charged with a crime but was arrested by immigration authorities after he was told his visa to attend flight school had been revoked.

Trump has stoked outrage with his calls to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants and his proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the country.
