Ringo Starr cancels NC show over ‘bathroom law’
Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr announced Wednesday that he is cancelling a concert in North Carolina due to the state’s new “bathroom law.”
{mosads}“I’m sorry to disappoint my fans in the area, but we need to take a stand against this hatred. Spread peace and love,” Starr said in a statement.
The law requires transgender people to use bathrooms designated for the gender listed on their birth certificate.
“How sad that they feel that this group of people cannot be defended,” Starr added.
The law has sparked outrage across the country, with rock stars Bruce Springsteen and Bryan Adams announcing last week that they were also cancelling shows in the state over the law.
