Top North Korean official executed for ‘bad sitting posture’

North Korea had a top government official executed last month for having “bad sitting posture” that made it appear he fell asleep during a meeting, according to South Korea.

{mosads}Kim Yong Jin, a vice premier for education, appeared to fall asleep during a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to Foreign Policy.

“Kim Yong Jin was denounced for his bad sitting posture when he was sitting below the rostrum,” a South Korean Unification Ministry spokesperson reportedly said.

Yong Jin was then accused of being an “anti-party, anti-revolutionary agitator” and executed by a firing squad.

Two other high ranking North Korean officials were disciplined through “reeducation programs,” which usually implies a trip to a labor camp, the report said.

One of the disciplined officials — Kim Yong Chol, who was in charge of inter-Korean affairs — will be sent to work at a collective farm for an unspecified time period.
