Trump: ‘We’ll see what’s going on’ with Clinton at debate

Donald Trump on Thursday said he is hoping the first presidential debate will be cordial, adding that he wants to “see that’s going on” with Hillary Clinton.

“We’ll stay cool,” he said on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends.”

“We’ll see what’s going on with her,” he added. “Because there’s something going on that a lot of people are trying to figure out.”

Trump said he would be “very respectful” of his Democratic rival for the presidency.

“I think she deserves that. I’m going to be nice. If she’s respectful of me, that’ll be nice,” the GOP’s nominee added. “We’ll have something I think people will respect as a debate.

“We’ll see where it all goes. You really never know exactly how it turns out. That’s why we’re going to have a lot of people watching.”

Clinton and Trump will clash in their first debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y.

NBC’s Lester Holt will moderate the contest, which experts predict will shatter viewership records.

The pair’s meeting comes as recent polls show the White House race tightening at both the national and state levels.

Clinton leads Trump by about 2 points nationwide in the latest RealClearPolitics average of polls.
