Lewandowski resigns from CNN

Corey Lewandowski resigned from CNN on Friday afternoon amid speculation that the former campaign manager to Donald Trump has accepted a position in Trump’s administration.

Lewandowski’s resignation from the network was effective immediately, according to CNNMoney, which reported that Lewandowski was no longer serving as a CNN contributor.

Lewandowski was fired as Trump’s campaign manager in June and took the CNN position, where he remained an outspoken supporter of the businessman and kept in close contact with his campaign.

He appeared alongside his successor, Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, and Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks in a photo posted to Twitter last week that included a reference to “teamwork.”

Lewandowski was among several names floated in a New York Times report on Thursday as a possible chief of staff for Trump.

Since winning the election Tuesday, Trump has been busy meeting with with GOP leaders and campaign aides as he prepares for his transition into the presidency. Lewandowski was reportedly seen entering Trump Tower on Friday before resigning from CNN.

Trump is said to be considering several others for the position of chief of staff, including campaign chief Steve Bannon, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, Conway and deputy campaign manager David Bossie.

Other members of his transition team include: Ben Carson, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Newt Gingrich, Ret. Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Rudy Giuliani and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.
