Obama was joined by her nephews Austin and Aaron Robinson, and dogs Bo and Sunny, for the final Christmas tree of the Obama White House.
“What do you think?” Obama asked her nephews.
“These are our replacement kids,” the first lady joked. “This is what happens when you get teenagers. One is asleep — these two are up.”
Mary and Dave Vander Velden, the winners of the national tree contest, also accompanied the first lady, according to CNN.
The tree, a 19-foot Douglas fir from a tree farm in Pennsylvania, was brought onto the grounds on a horse drawn carriage.
“Christmas begins. The holiday starts!” Obama said. “We’re ready — our last one. We’re excited about it.”
