Lawyer challenging travel ban: Trump tweets ‘help’ legal case against it

One of the lead attorneys on a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s travel ban welcomed the president’s “help” Monday morning in the pending case.

Trump began tweeting Monday that his executive order barring citizens from six majority-Muslim countries from entering the United States was, in fact, a “travel ban,” even after people within his administration denied that it constitutes a ban.

“It’s [sic] kinda odd to have the defendant in HawaiivTrump [sic] acting as our co-counsel. We don’t need the help but will take it!” Neal Katyal, the lawyer defending the restraining order on the travel ban, tweeted Monday.

{mosads}In March, state government attorneys in Hawaii filed for a temporary restraining order blocking the revised travel ban.

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court Thursday to reconsider the travel ban by filing two emergency applications seeking to stop two lower-level court rulings, including the case in Hawaii, that shut down Trump’s March 6 executive order.
