Hannity: Comey ‘humiliated’ the media with his testimony

Fired FBI Director James Comey’s testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee Thursday “humiliated” the mainstream media, according to conservative talk show host Sean Hannity.

The press is “facing a massive credibility crisis,” Hannity said on his Fox News show Friday night.

“Yesterday the former FBI director James Comey, ‘J. Edgar Comey,’ told the Senate Intel Committee that many of the media’s Russia collusion stories are ‘just dead wrong,'” Hannity continued.

During his testimony, the former FBI director said that “many, many stories purportedly based on classified information about, well, about lots of stuff but especially about Russia, that are just dead wrong.”

Comey was specifically asked about a The New York Times report titled “Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence” that he said was “not true.” The paper was forced to defend their work.

Hannity targeted MSNBC’s Chris Matthews as a top Trump critic who had been silenced by Comey’s testimony.

“Even ‘Mr. Thrill-up-his-leg’ himself, Chris Matthews came to this stunning conclusion,” Hannity continued, playing a video of Matthews saying that Trump’s critics’ theory “came apart” on Thursday.

“I was even shocked,” Hannity quipped.

“They’ve been lying to you, the American people,” Hannity said of the media. He pointed to corrections at CNN and ABC that were made after the hearing when, counter to some predictions, Comey confirmed Trump’s claims that he told the president he wasn’t personally under investigation.

Hannity has been criticized recently for promoting debunked conspiracy theories about a murdered DNC staffer on his show. Advertisers fled his show last month after he refused to stop pushing the debunked stories.
