Social media mocks RNC chairwoman on Trump homework analogy
Twitter mocked the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee Sunday for equating President Trump telling former FBI Director James Comey that he “hoped” Comey would drop an FBI investigation to a parent telling a child they “hoped” they did their homework.
“There’s a difference between saying ‘I hope you do your homework’ and ‘go do your homework,’” RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said on Fox News Sunday.
McDaniel was referring to Comey’s testimony that Trump cleared the room before saying that he “hoped” Comey would drop the probe into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Twitter users, including a Democratic member of Congress and columnists for the conservative National Review and the New York Post, quickly hit back at her comments.
This is like me saying “I hope you’re not an idiot.” https://t.co/GKxd4x8qdx

Also, when I tell my kid “I hope you do your homework” it is obviously and emphatically a directive. https://t.co/TAvqFJ2cp6

I guarantee if the President of the United States cleared the room & told my kid “I hope you do your homework,” he would absolutely do it. https://t.co/6ubUkPekHF
