Trevor Noah: US should add LeBron James dunking on Confederate monuments
“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah suggested that instead of destroying Confederate statues, the U.S. should add a bronze LeBron James dunking on Confederate soldiers’ heads.
The Comedy Central host revealed his unique plan on Wednesday night.
“Instead of tearing them down, maybe we should add something to them. Like a representation of black people’s contribution to history … Right now the statue is only the white side of history,” Noah said.
Noah said the addition of the basketball star would be useful “just to remind them who lost the [Civil] War.”

His suggestion came after Daily Show correspondent Roy Wood Jr. suggested adding Frederick Douglas on piggyback to other Confederate monuments.
Democrats and some Republicans have largely supported the removal of Confederate-related monuments and statues, but President Trump has defended their place in history.
Trump previously called the statues “beautiful” and lamented the loss of several monuments. He said it was “sad” that the “history and culture” of the United States is “being ripped apart” by the removal of Confederate statues.
“Robert E Lee, Stonewall Jackson — who’s next, Washington, Jefferson? So foolish! Also the beauty that is being taken out of our cities, towns and parks will be greatly missed and never able to be comparably replaced!” Trump tweeted.
Confederate monuments have been removed in at least 23 cities across the U.S., and even more statues that critics call racist have been defaced in recent weeks.
Yesterday, a statue of Christopher Columbus was “beheaded” in New York, and last week another Columbus statue in Baltimore was smashed.
