Trump Jr.: Why is it hard to believe I flew commercial?

Donald Trump Jr. is firing back at a media report, asking why it is so hard to believe he flew on a commercial flight.

The president’s son late Wednesday shared a link to a New York Times story on his hunting trip to Canada on a commercial flight without Secret Service protection.

He quoted a passage from the story that reads, “It surprised me that he had traveled on a commercial flight economy class, no less.”

His father’s administration has come under fire after reports that Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price had taken at least 24 trips on a private jet since May, costing taxpayers approximately $300,000.

On Wednesday, President Trump said he was “not happy about it” and promised to look into it. When asked if Price would lose his job, the president said, “We’ll see.”

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt reportedly also made several trips on both private and military planes over the summer on flights cleared by the agency’s ethics council.

Earlier this year, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin reportedly requested the use of a government plane for his European honeymoon, though his request was denied. He claimed that he would have paid for the jet himself.

Mnuchin is under investigation by the Treasury Department inspector general for taking a private plane on a trip to Kentucky last month timed with the eclipse. The Treasury spoke alongside Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) at an event during that trip.

Like Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump also flew commercial this week on a flight to Washington after speaking to children about entrepreneurship and technology in Detroit.
