DNC chair on Texas shooting: ‘Americans should never be afraid to worship’
Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman Tom Perez condemned the mass shooting at a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, on Sunday.
“Unimaginable. Americans should never be afraid to worship. Sending condolences from all of us to everyone affected by the shooting in Texas,” Perez said in a tweet.

Perez’s comments come after a gunman opened fire at a church service, leaving multiple people dead.

Authorities have yet to officially confirm the number of people killed. However, law enforcement sources told various news outlets, including The New York Times, that more than 20 people are dead.
A man walked into the First Baptist Church, located about 40 miles east of San Antonio, and opened fire around 11:30 a.m., according to witnesses.
ABC affiliate KSAT reported that the gunman was killed.
President Trump, who is in Asia, tweeted his condolences after news of the shooting broke.
