Trump is in New York City for a series of fundraising events. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway are also with Trump, according to pool reports.
Trump’s trip to New York comes one day after his former national security adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents about his contacts with former Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
As part of his plea deal, Flynn has agreed to fully cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into ties between Trump campaign associates and Russia.
Flynn becomes the first person to hold a formal position in the Trump administration to be charged in Mueller’s investigation.
Trump’s trip to New York also comes hours after Senate Republicans passed their tax bill during a late-night voting session that lasted into the early morning hours Saturday.
Trump praised Republicans for passing the bill in a late-night tweet, urging the House and Senate to put a bill on his desk to sign before Christmas.
