GOP Rep. tears into colleague’s ‘drastic and cruel’ call for Dreamers’ arrests at State of the Union
Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) on Tuesday blasted a fellow GOP lawmaker who called for “Dreamers” attending President Trump’s State of the Union address to be arrested by Capitol Police.
“Oh my goodness, Rep.Gosar. Dreamers don’t post a threat to us. This is so drastic and cruel. Dios mío,” Ros-Lehtinen tweeted to Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.)

Gosar earlier Tuesday called on Capitol Police and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to check identification of State of the Union attendees and arrest immigrants in the country illegally.
The comment comes after some lawmakers on both sides of the aisle announced they would bring Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program recipients to Trump’s first State of the Union address. {mosads}
A number of Republicans quickly distanced themselves from Gosar’s call on Twitter.
Ros-Lehtinen, a centrist Republican, has been vocal in her support of granting Dreamers a path to citizenship.
She is also a frequent critic of President Trump, most recently calling his reported “shithole countries” remark about certain nations “reprehensible” and “racist.”
