Cruz attack ad: Trump got rich from ‘seizing private property’
White House hopeful Ted Cruz released an attack ad Friday slamming presidential rival Donald Trump on eminent domain, saying the businessman used the seizure of property to make himself “rich.”
The 30-second ad, titled “System,” starts by describing eminent domain as a “fancy term for politicians seizing private property to enrich the fat cats who bankroll them.” It then flashes to a clip on Fox News of Trump saying he thinks eminent domain is “wonderful.”
{mosads}”It made him rich,” the ad says, with photos of the party front-runner shown on the covers of magazines.
The ad goes on to say that Trump bulldozed the home of an elderly widow in Atlantic City to build a limousine parking lot at his casino.
“Trump won’t change the system. He’s what’s wrong with it,” it says in the end.
Cruz tweeted his ad Friday morning saying, “It’s time we change the system and break the #WashingtonCartel — together!”
Trump, meanwhile, has released his first attack ad targeting the Texas senator on immigration and accusing him of being “pro amnesty.”
The real estate mogul fired back in response to Cruz’s ad on eminent domain.
“Ted Cruz complains about my views on eminent domain, but without it we wouldn’t have roads, highways, airports, schools or even pipelines,” he tweeted on Friday morning.
