DNC rounds out communications team with two new hires

{mosads}The new hires, shared first with The Hill, include Pili Tobar, who will serve as director of Hispanic media and regional press secretary for the West, and Jason Pitt, who will serve as regional press secretary of the Midwest and Central region.

Pitt previously worked for a number of policy organizations, including the Sierra Club and Obama for America’s Ohio arm, as well as for former Rep. John Boccieri (D-Ohio).

Tobar joins the DNC from America’s Voice, the immigration reform advocacy group, where she was in charge of both English and Spanish communications. DNC Communications Director Mo Elleithee said that she’ll help the committee continue its Hispanic outreach.

“Pili and Jason are excellent additions to our team, providing crucial support to increase our regional press capacity and bring the Democratic message to every corner of the country,” Elleithee said.

“Additionally, Pili will continue to bolster our presence in Spanish-language media on important issues that matter to the Latino community including commonsense immigration reform and the importance of a strong and growing middle class.”

Tobar and Pitt join Ian Sams, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regional press secretary, and Kiara Pesante, director of African American media and Southern regional press secretary, on the committee’s communications team.
