The Republican National Committee on Thursday announced they had hired Ali Pardo, a press assistant from Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) office, as their Hispanic press secretary.
Pardo’s hiring is the latest in a series of efforts undertaken by the RNC in the aftermath of the 2012 election.
{mosads}An autopsy report commissioned by Chairman Reince Priebus in the aftermath of Democrats’ electoral victories found that the party needed to do a better job of reaching women and minority candidates.
“I am excited to announce that Ali Pardo will join our team as Hispanic Media Press Secretary,” Priebus said in a statement. “Ali is part of our effort aimed at building a lasting national field organization, with an emphasis on engaging and building relationships in Hispanic communities throughout our country.”
Earlier this year, Priebus told ABC News that his examination of the party’s failures in 2012 found that “the way we communicate our principles isn’t resonating widely enough.”
“We need to campaign among Hispanic, black, Asian, and gay Americans and demonstrate we care about them, too,” he added. “We must recruit more candidates who come from minority communities. But it is not just tone that counts. Policy always matters.”
Pardo, a Miami native, began working for Rubio as an intern during his 2010 Senate campaign. She later served as a staff assistant in his office before joining his communications team.
