RNC raises $80.6M in 2013, $9M in bank

The Republican National Committee raised $80.6 million in 2013, over $7 million of that in December alone, according to the committee’s treasurer, Tony Parker.

Parker also announced at the RNC’s annual winter meeting on Friday that the committee has more than $9.2 million cash on hand, over $4 million more than it had in the bank at the close of 2012.

{mosads}The committee remains debt-free. Throughout most of last year, the RNC outraised its Democratic counterpart, but from September through November, the Democratic National Committee picked up its pace and outraised the RNC.

The DNC has not yet released its December fundraising numbers. But through the end of November, the RNC outraised the Democrats by $12 million, Parker announced Friday.

Parker said the increased fundraising efforts had helped boost the RNC’s field presence, noting that the committee had 134 paid staffers spread over 35 different states last year. The committee also had more than 200 paid employees working on last year’s two major elections, the New Jersey special Senate election and the Virginia gubernatorial race.
