Sanders’ favorability doubles since March

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) favorable rating has risen to 24 percent, doubling his rating from March, according to a Gallup poll.

In the same time span, Hillary Clinton’s favorability has fallen from 48 percent to 43 percent. Her unfavorable rating rose to 46 percent, giving her a negative net favorable score.

{mosads}Clinton is the frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, with Sanders in second place in polling. Clinton was familiar enough for 89 percent of respondents to rate her, compared with 44 percent for Sanders.

Sanders’ unfavorable rating is 20 percent in the poll.

He was the only Democratic candidate in the poll to have a higher favorability than unfavorability.

Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb was 11 percent favorable to 12 percent unfavorable. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley was 9 percent favorable to 13 percent unfavorable. And former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee was 6 percent favorable to 11 percent unfavorable.

Clinton leads a RealClearPolitics average of polling for the Democratic nomination with 58 percent support.

Sanders is in second at 17 percent. Vice President Joe Biden, who has not entered the 2016 race, is at 10 percent.

Webb, O’Malley and Chafee all poll at less than 3 percent support.
