House Dems outraise GOP by nearly $1M
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee outraised Republican congressional committees last month, according to newly released fundraising figures.
{mosads}Donors gave the DCCC about $4.6 million in August, trouncing the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) take – $3.8 million – by almost $1 million, marking the party’s overall success in August.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) raked in $3.3 million, while the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) banked nearly $1.9 million in last month’s fundraising efforts.
Congressional Democrats also have more money to burn, according to the newly released earnings. The DCCC has $16.1 million cash-on-hand to the NRCC’s $12.7 million.
Though midterm elections won’t hit until November 2014, the party is counting the early success as a path to winning more House seats.
“The DCCC has raised $10 million more than this point in the 2012 cycle, reaching $49.8 million. By August of 2011, the DCCC had raised $39.7 million and in that election, won a net of eight seats,” a senior aide said in a statement. “The DCCC also has more than double the cash-on-hand the committee had at this point in 2011.”
