Santorum hires Sharron Angle’s former finance director
Angle’s campaign raised more than $27 million last cycle in a losing effort.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with Amanda’s terrific track-record join our efforts,” Santorum said in a statement. “At a time when President Obama and national Democrats are touting their $1 billion fundraising goal, I am thrilled to have someone like Amanda on our team to help us raise the funds necessary to get our message of limited government, traditional family values, and national security to the American people.”
On Wednesday, Santorum moved a step closer to a 2012 presidential run by forming an account that allows him to raise money for a potential presidential campaign.
“I’ve gotten a lot of great feedback from people, a lot of encouragement,” Santorum said in an interview on Fox News earlier this week. “I feel like we’ve got a good strong presence on the ground, and now, really, the test for me is whether we can raise the money that’s necessary. So I’m gonna set up a committee, a testing the waters committee.”
The former senator said he expects to “determine over the next few weeks whether the resources are going to be there to do it.”
