Santorum releases new ad attacking Cain on abortion
Cain has been under strong criticism by abortion-rights advocates after he said that he did not think it was the federal government’s place to outlaw abortion in the case of rape and incest.
“It comes down to — it’s not the government’s role or anybody else’s role to make that decision,” Cain said in an interview with CNN, the comment that sparked the criticism and is featured in the Santorum ad.
{mosads}Since the interview Cain has backtracked and stressed that he is completely anti-abortion.
The ad then goes on to cite conservatives calling Cain’s position “a pro-choice position.”
The ad is the latest example of Santorum attacking his competitors in the Republican primary on social issues from the right. Santorum, the former Republican senator from Pennsylvania, has styled himself as being the most consistent candidate in the race, and attacked the front-runners on social issues like gay marriage and abortion.
“Herman Cain. The more we learn, the more concerned we become,” the ad concludes.
