Perry hits Romney, Gingrich on healthcare in new ad

{mosads}Romney’s campaign has already fielded plenty of trouble on the healthcare issue, due to the similarities between President Obama’s healthcare legislation and the legislation that Romney implemented in Massachusetts as governor. But the ad signals Perry’s intent to douse newly minted front-runner Gingrich in the same gasoline, likely hoping conservatives will want to hold him over the fire.

The new ad will air in Iowa, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Up until now, Perry and Gingrich have mostly declined to criticize each other. Gingrich also wrote a foreword for Perry’s book in 2010.

“Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and President Obama all support government health care mandates,” Perry’s communications director Ray Sullivan said in a statement released by the campaign. “Gov. Perry opposes government-mandated health coverage and is firmly committed to repealing the job-killing Obamacare to protect families and job creators from the burden it imposes on them.”
