Report: Former NH Gov. Sununu to endorse Romney

Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu (R) will endorse GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, reports the New Hampshire Union Leader.

“I’m viewed as a good, solid conservative Republican and I’m supporting a good, solid conservative Republican,” said Sununu in a interview with the paper.

{mosads}Sununu is expected to attend a rally with Romney at the New Hampshire State House on Monday when the former Massachusetts governor will file the paperwork for his candidacy. Sununu will also be a chairman of the Romney campaign’s national committee.

His endorsement holds great weight in the state where he served for three terms as governor. Sununu was also White House Chief of Staff for President George H. W. Bush.

Polls show Romney as the clear front-runner in the GOP field in New Hampshire. An Insider Advantage poll conducted Oct. 16 had Romney with 39 percent support, 15 points ahead of second-place Herman Cain.

Sununu did not endorse a candidate in the 2008 New Hampshire primary which Romney lost to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.)
