Paul tired of GOP ‘retreating’ on abortion

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Saturday he was fed up with Republicans who caved when pressured over their stance on abortion.

“I’m tired of us retreating on this issue,” he said at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition summit in Waukee, Iowa.

“We need other Republicans,” he argued of his party’s failures on the issue.

{mosads}“I’m going to push back,” Paul vowed. “I’m going to be a key part of this and keep talking about it.”

Paul, a 2016 White House hopeful, said Democrats did not have the advantage in the abortion debate. Voter views on reproductive health, he argued, showed Republicans were not properly tackling the issue.

“84 percent of America is not comfortable with third-trimester abortion,” Paul claimed.

“Let’s flip the tables on them,” Paul urged. “I think we can win this argument.”

The Kentucky lawmaker also used his platform to slam Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.). Her views on abortion, Paul argued, were shameful.

“Let’s ask the Debbie Wasserman Schultzes of this world when life begins,” Paul concluded.
