Twitter: Walker’s early presidential tweet wasn’t his fault
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker accidentally announced on Twitter on Friday that he is running for president — but Twitter says his team was not at fault.
Walker had been expected to formally enter the race with a speech Monday, but he seemed to jump the gun Friday afternoon.
He tweeted, “Scott is in. Are you? Join our team today.” Below the text was a photo of the candidate, with “Scott Walker is running for president” superimposed.
The tweet, since deleted, can be seen in this screenshot shared on Twitter:

{mosads}A Twitter spokesperson said of the tweet: “We’re looking into today’s issue, and we’ve determined the Walker team was not at fault.”
Walker is the highest-profile potential Republican candidate who has yet to officially announce a bid. He’s currently in second place in the polls, behind former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, according to a RealClearPolitics average of recent poll numbers. He holds a commanding lead in recent polling of the Iowa caucuses.
Walker’s appeal to both the party’s establishment and its more conservative base has helped him seize the mantle of an early GOP favorite.
