Sliding in Iowa, Trump pushes for more support

A day before the next Republican presidential debate, GOP front-runner Donald Trump had a simple message for his Iowa supporters: Boost my numbers!
“Iowa, will you get your numbers up, please?” he asked a crowd in Sioux City on Tuesday, according to the Des Moines Register. “I promise you, I will do such a good job.”
{mosads}Trump had led the Hawkeye State for months, but retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson surged past him last week in polls. A survey released Monday had Carson 14 points above Trump.
Trump on Tuesday implored his supporters to find a way to give him an edge in the state.
“Will you please do me a favor and work with my people and go out on Feb. 1 and vote?” he urged. “And if I win Iowa, we’re going to run the whole table.”
The billionaire businessman slammed his opponents who rely on super-PAC money to prop up their campaigns.
“It’s a scam, and it should be stopped,” he said of the outside groups. “And it’s unfair to somebody like me that’s spending my own money.”
Trump has spent the last week repudiating super-PACs.
Trump and Carson will be joined by eight other GOP presidential candidates at CNBC’s debate in Boulder, Colo., on Wednesday evening.
