Cruz endorsed by California rep

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has picked up the endorsement of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.), his second congressional endorsement of the week.

Rohrabacher on Thursday praised the GOP presidential candidate, invoking the specter of vaunted conservative former President Reagan in a statement released by Cruz’s campaign.

{mosads}”Having worked so closely with Ronald Reagan, I can identify Reagan’s best traits in Ted Cruz,” Rohrabacher said.

“Ted has more foreign policy experience than Ronald Reagan did when he became President. … Like Reagan, he doesn’t apologize for facing foreign policy challenges in a strong and forceful manner but at the same time he realizes that we should not be belligerent toward others who might want to work with us to achieve specific goals nor are we the policemen of the world.”

Rohrabacher has been in Congress since 1989, and before that worked as an adviser in Reagan’s White House.

Earlier this week, influential Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) announced his support for Cruz.
