Trump won’t release the off-the-record tapes

Donald Trump says he will not consider releasing the tapes from his off-the-record conversation with The New York Times.

News outlets have speculated that the tape features Trump partially disavowing his stated immigration plan.

{mosads}“I may have discussed something like that with The New York Times, but I would never release off-the-record conversations,” Trump told Fox News’s Megyn Kelly in their first on-stage interaction since their infamous August debate face-off. “I don’t think it’s fair.”

Trump compared his own ability to make deals to rival Ted Cruz’s day-and-a-half-long filibuster of ObamaCare in 2013.

“There always has to be some tug and pull and deal. When I watched Ted stand on the Senate floor, I had great respect for what he did. In the meantime, what came of it? Nothing. You have to be able to have some flexibility, some negotiation.”

Specifically asked about his own immigration plan, the real estate mogul once again touted the wall he wants to build along the Mexican border.

“As an example, the wall’s 50 feet high. Is it going to be 45 feet? Or 40 feet? It could very well be. But there’s always some give and take and always some negotiation.”
