Poll: Cruz in dead heat with Trump nationally
Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz is in a dead heat with rival Donald Trump nationally, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Trump leads, at 39.5 percent support, with Cruz behind, at 35.2 percent, within the poll’s margin of error.

Other than Cruz, the only candidate to come within 7 points of Trump in this poll was Ben Carson, during his brief spike in popularity in November.
Cruz trailed Trump by almost 20 points in last month’s edition of the same survey.
Anti-Trump Republicans have been encouraging voters to coalesce around Cruz as the race continues with no candidate locking up the nomination. The Texas senator is pitching himself as the most plausible alternative to Trump.
The poll’s margin of error was 4.8 points.
