Michelle Obama cuts ad for Terry McAuliffe

Michelle Obama has cut a radio ad for Terry McAuliffe’s gubernatorial campaign in Virginia.

“I want you to be a part of something important so I’m asking you to join with people across Virginia and elect Terry McAuliffe your next governor,” the first lady says in the ad for the Democratic candidate, which the campaign posted on YouTube.

“This election will be close and every vote counts so I hope I can count on you to vote for Terry McAuliffe.”

The first lady campaigned and fundraised for McAuliffe, the former head of the Democratic National Committee and a major fundraiser for the party, back in June.

She’s been on a steady fundraising and campaigning streak for Democrats. She campaigned for Ed Markey in Massachusetts’ special Senate election earlier this year and will be in New York next month to fundraiser for women Senate candidates.

And she’s not the only star power McAuliffe has brought in for the closing days of his campaign.

President Obama will campaign with him on Sunday. Former President Clinton has also been on the stump with him, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made her first post-State Department campaign appearance an event for McAuliffe.

McAuliffe headed the DNC under the Clintons and is a member of their inner circle.

A Washington Post/Abt SRBI poll on Tuesday showed McAuliffe leading Republican candidate Ken Cuccinelli 51 percent to 39 percent. The election is next Tuesday.
